Don’t be fooled by marketing. Most trail mixes and nut blends on the market are anything but healthy. Reading through labels shows that these healthy food impostors are loaded with sugar, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, glutamate, and stabilizers.
All of these ingredients contribute to diseases and destroy intestinal gut flora. #NoThankYou
Here’s a quick and easy recipe for a healthy nutrient-dense snack you can make in minutes. I’ve been making this recipe for the past few years and it is a breeze. Prep time is less than 10 minutes!
You will need:
✔1/4 cup of the following: sprouted pumpkin seeds, sprouted sunflower seeds, sprouted cashews (chopped), sprouted almonds, or walnuts (chopped). (If you don’t have sprouted nuts/seeds you can use organic and raw. I purchase my sprouted foods here)
✔for spicy blend use 1-3 tsp of ground cayenne pepper, 1/4 tsp of ground paprika, 1 tsp ground garlic, 1/4 tsp ground ginger, 1 tsp sea salt, 2 Tbsp ACV, 1 Tbsp coconut sugar.
✔for sweet blend use 1 tsp allspice, 5 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 4 Tbsp pure vanilla extract, 2 Tbsp ACV, 2-4 Tbsp pure maple syrup of coconut nectar.
**OPTIONAL add chopped dates, figs or dried organic mulberries after removing from heat**
Heat your fat of choice over low heat. Add in all the ingredients and stir for 5 minutes continuously until everything is mixed.
Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Store in glass jars for up to 2 weeks in the fridge or a cool pantry.
Be mindful that if the humidity is high in your home you should probably store it in your fridge to avoid mold from growing inside your jars.
This yummy snack is a great treat to pack in lunch boxes, gym bags, and carry on bags.
