Ok, some of you have been waiting for this article I promised on smoothies, but I decide to add in juices as well.

So here you go, I hope you enjoy it.

Remember to wash your produce very well and use Organic if possible.  Also remember to leave the skin on those fruits and veggies that have edible skins, so you’re getting all the nutrients available.

Regarding what blenders to use I use a vitamix, but before I had the vitamix I used a powerful Oster blender and it worked fine.

Immunity Boost Smoothie for when the weather has gotten the best of ya

You will need:

1 medium sized apple with skin

1 small mango or ¾ cup of frozen mangos

2 passion fruits

Juice from one orange

Juice from one small lemon

1/2 tsp of organic Echinacea powder

Optional Items (1/4 teaspoon of colostrum powder)

Cut mango into pieces with skin on, cut up apple with skin on.  Place in blender with the lemon and orange juice.  Blend until smooth.  Add in the passion fruit and Echinacea and optional items.  Blend until smooth.  Serve over crushed ice and drink immediately.

Nutty Banana Smoothie for you banana lovers

You will need:

2 bananas

½ cup of pecans

1 tbs of Organic raw honey

½ a cup of organic rice or coconut milk

Optional Items (a pinch of organic vanilla, nutmeg and ginger)

Blend bananas first until smooth, then add nuts and blend again making sure to stop a few times to scrape down the sides and make sure all nuts are blended smoothly.  Pour in maple syrup or raw honey and blend again.  At last you get to pour in your milk and blend again.  Once done you can serve over crushed ice or I like to freeze chopped pieces of bananas and then place them at the bottom of my glass then pour this smoothie over the frozen bananas.

Need a Brain Boost Juice

This juice is one of my favorites because it really gets my brain juices flowing and helps me stay alert in times of stress or when I am required to concentrate.  I have used this successfully after having my children instead of coffee and it really helped my stay alert in spite of my two hour a night sleep routine when babies are just born.

I like to make allot and drink about 20 ounces in one sitting, so if all you want is one glass just cut the ingredient into half.

You will need:

2 oranges

2 carrots

1/3 of a large uncooked beetroot (beets)

½ cup of uncooked spinach

1 apple

Peel your oranges then juice then along with the carrots, beetroot, spinach and apple.  Depending on the kind of juicer you have you might have to add these items one at a time.  Once juiced add some ice and drink promptly.  Enjoy

Kid Approved Veggie & Fruit Smoothie

Kids can be hard to please but I am sure they will love this smoothie.  Everyone in our home especially baby really enjoys it.  It has also passed the guest test.  Every time we have company over I make it a point to make some and have the kids and parents sample, I always get a standing ovation and a look of shock when they see how good it tastes.

For a family of 4 or 5 you will need:

2 cups of spinach

1 large cucumber with skin

2 large carrots

1 stick of celery

1 cup of grapes or 2 plumbs with skin

½ cup of blueberries fresh or frozen

3 large apples with skin

½ cup of frozen mixed berries

1 and ½ to 2 and ½ cups of cold water or natural mineral water

1 cup of ice

Optional Items (3 tablespoons of raw honey or organic evaporated cane juice, 1 small zucchini with skin)

Once you have chopped all your produce add in the spinach, celery carrots, plums/grapes, apples, cucumber and water.

Blend until smooth then add in the remaining ingredients, blend again until smooth.  Serve in a tall dark glass or cup to the little ones with a straw.  We enjoy this smoothie several times a week.

Cocolicious Smoothie

This smoothie is one of my favorites for when I am on the go.  Coco (Cacao) beans are high in antioxidants and full off minerals and vitamin B complex.  Studies have shown them to have anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties.  And just for fun – did you know that cacao is considered a fruit?

You will need:

12 ounces of organic rice milk (or use the milk of your choice)

½ cup of ice

3 table spoons of organic raw cacao

¼ teaspoon of organic vanilla extract

¼ cup of cashews

2 small bananas

2 tablespoons of Organic raw honey

Add in everything to the blender except the ice.  Blend until almost smooth then add in ice and blend lightly.  Pour in a cup and don’t forget to wipe off your mustache when you’re done!

I hope you enjoy these yummy recipes.
