These past 7 plus years (during the week) we have opted for a nutritious, protein-packed herbal, green and fruit smoothies instead of breakfast. At times we also add a green smoothie alongside a healthy breakfast.
Eating greens, fruits and nutritious unprocessed food for breakfast is not the norm though.
It is unfortunate that for decades people have thought that eating a large breakfast full of processed carbs (cereal, bread, store-bought muffins) and refined sugars was a good thing. But that ideology is not correct for a few reasons. The most important reason is that when you get up in the morning your body should begin the purging process to get rid of any waste from the day or night before. Your digestive system wants to evacuate but you just shove more processed food into it which is like putting your finger over the end of a hose that is turned on. The only thing you’re accomplishing is a lethal buildup of toxins that will be reabsorbed internally and begin to make you sick over time.
The second reason is that refined sugars and processed carbs do not offer the nutrition and energy that our cells need to stay healthy.
It’s been known for a very long time that a diet high in refined sugar and processed “junk food” leads to diseases like cancer.
When we look at our body and the symptoms we are trying to avoid and or heal we must take a step back and view the entire body as a whole. Each and every organ, tiny cell and muscle depend on the fuel we provide it to function. Green smoothies are a great way to give our bodies the fuel it needs. Below is one of my favorite ways to make green smoothies. I hope you enjoy it and share with others.
Be sure to “raise your glass” and let it be green!
Your body will thank you.
